Salah, a Druze, has a brother and three older sisters, but he is the only stateless person in his family. When he was born, his father was in prison, while his mother, forced to support five children as a domestic worker, was unable to follow the bureaucratic process necessary to register the birth. After eight years of exchanging web messages, he picked her up at the airport, arriving from Morocco, and they got married immediately. Now she is pregnant.
